NOVEMBER POST

NEWS OF NOTE: Updated 11/3/215 November is here and it’s time to be thankful.

Here at Romagnoli Accordions, we have so much to be grateful for. To start, we’re thankful that 5 years ago we made the decision to keep Italo-American Accordion alive. The name may have changed, but our commitment to the accordion and its players has never wavered. In the past 5 years we have built upon the work of the men who started this company in 1910, and the efforts of Joe and Anne Romagnoli who guided this company for many decades.

In the past 5 years, we have had the privilege of meeting the most amazing and talented musicians from all over the world. Each of them have their own style and flair. They come from all walks of life, in all age ranges and with incredible stories of what music means to them. Some entertain at local nursing homes or neighborhood bars, while others simply delight friends and family. But they all have one thing in common: the music. Music has the power to transform and lift the spirits. This is the exact kind of transformation we need in our world right now when things can look so bleak. Steve Martin once said, “you can’t be sad when playing the banjo”, and we would argue that the accordion is an equally happy instrument!

We host monthly parties here at the shop called the Saturday Squeeze Session. Every first Saturday we host 10-20 people who choose to gather together and share good times and good music. At every event, I stand back and just watch the laughter, the community building and the joy. And every time I am filled with gratitude that this is my job.

So in this month of thankfulness, look for little things. Be grateful when a stranger holds the door open, enjoy the beauty of the fall colors and remember that, for 115 years, there is a little shop that still makes happy music.
